Members of Committee of Gender Equity of Macau Universities Visit CUHK
A 14-member delegation on behalf of the Committee of Gender Equity of Macau Universities visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 11 October. The delegation was received by Prof. Fanny Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Co-Director of Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies and other CUHK representatives including Prof. Cheng Sea-ling and Prof. Lam Ching-man, Co-Directors of Gender Research Centre; Prof. Diana Lee, Chairperson of Committee Against Sexual Harassment; and Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China).
Among the delegates are representatives from the Tertiary Education Services Office of Macau and members of eight Macau universities, who took turns with CUHK members to give presentations on their respective work relating to gender studies, the promotion of gender equality and the prevention of sexual harassment, while seeking opportunities for further collaboration. The meeting facilitated the deepening of mutual understanding between both sides, further promoting sustainable exchange on relevant fields between the tertiary sector of Hong Kong and Macau.

Deputy Party Secretary of Hainan University Visits CUHK
Mr. Liao Qinglin, Deputy Party Secretary of Hainan University, led a three-member delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 16 October. During their stay, the delegates met with Prof. Wong Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President and Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China) [OALC] to discuss ways to enhance student exchange and interflow between the two universities.
Prof. Wong gave an introduction of the University to the delegates, with focus on education, admissions, the college system and academic links. Both sides devised plans for future collaboration and explored ways of nurturing talents for sectors of travel and modern services including curriculum, student interflow and professional internships. Mr. Liao's visit facilitated the development of mutual understanding, enhancing connections and extending scopes of collaboration between CUHK and Hainan University.
CUHK signed a university-level collaboration agreement with Hainan University on 31 March this year, when Mr. Mao Chaofeng, Executive Vice Governor of Hainan Province and Prof. Liang Mou, Vice-President of Hainan University led a delegation to visit CUHK. Both sides agreed to launch academic projects actively, contributing to the exchange activities to be organized by the School of Hotel and Tourism Management of CUHK this winter and by OALC next summer.

Vice President of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Visits CUHK
Prof. Yang Guoqiang, Vice President of The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 25 October. The delegates met and discussed issues on curriculum collaboration with CUHK members including Prof. Fanny Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Aaron Ho, Department of Biomedical Engineering; Prof. Philip Fu, Department of Computer Scienceand Engineering; and representatives from Office of Academic Links (China) and Graduate School.
During the meeting, CUHK representatives introduced the University's latest teaching and research development to the delegates. Prof. Yang expressed hope to encourage further studies among undergraduates of UCAS by a variety of initiatives, which may include joint supervision and training. Discussion was held on the direction and study mode regarding the collaborative plans.
Formerly known as the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), UCAS was newly founded in 2012. CUHK has been in close collaboration with CAS in academic exchange and joint research projects. A CUHK-CAS Partnership Steering Committee was established in 2014 to forge effective and sustainable relationship, while strengthening partnership with CAS. OALC runs a number of visiting, interflow and placement programmes with CAS's participation. This visit contributed to the establishment of new collaboration platforms, thus laying a new foundation for future collaboration in talent nurturing and research.
