Director of Department of Education, Science and Technology of the LOCPG Visits CUHK
Professor Jiang Jianxiang, Director of Department of Education, Science and Technology of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government (LOCPG) in the HKSAR visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 15 May. Professor Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK; and Professor Fok Tai-fai and Professor Chan Wai-yee, Pro-Vice Chancellors of CUHK met with Professor Jiang during his visit.
Apart from receiving the updates of the research development in CUHK, Professor Jiang discussed opportunities of the University in academic exchange, research collaboration and talent nurturing under the "Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area". He hoped that CUHK can further enhance its collaboration with the mainland based on the current close and strong connections. Professor Jiang first visited CUHK in April this year and officiated at the 2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance Working Group Meeting.

Visit of President of the Adjudication Committee of HLHL Foundation
Professor Zhu Lilan, President of the Adjudication Committee of Ho Leung Ho Lee (HLHL) Foundation and Former Minister of Science and Technology of the PRC , led a 5-member delegation including Mr. Duan Ruichun, Secretary General of the Adjudication Committee of HLHL Foundation to visit The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).
During the visit, delegates met with CUHK members including Professor Fok Tai-fai, Acting Vice-Chancellor; Professor Joseph Sung, Former Vice-Chancellor and Director of State Key Laboratory of Digestive Disease (CUHK); Dr. Daniel Lee, Associate Vice-President; and Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China). Professor Yu Jun, Deputy Director of State Key Laboratory of Digestive Disease (CUHK); Professor Huang Yu, Professor from School of Biomedical Sciences; as well as academics from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and City University of Hong Kong also joined the meeting.
The delegates learned about the scientific research development of the University at the meeting. Discussion was held on enhancing exchange with CUHK members. Professor Zhu introduced the latest status of scientific awards bestowed by HLHL Foundation. She expressed wishes in strengthening linkage with CUHK and was hopeful that more outstanding Chinese scientists from CUHK would receive prestigious prizes from the HLHL Foundation. Professor Joseph Sung and Professor Jun Yu received the Scientific and Technological Progress Prize (Medicine) of HLHL Foundation in 2011 and 2018 respectively.
The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation was established in 1994, with donations from the charitable foundations of Dr. Ho Sin Hang, Dr. Leung Kau-Kui, Dr. Ho Tim, and Dr. Lee Quo-wei's Wei Lun Foundation Limited. It is a scientific and technology award established with the aims of rewarding outstanding and innovative Chinese academics, and promoting science and technology development in China.

Vice-chairman of International Finance Forum Visits CUHK
Mr. Li Xiaohong, Vice-chairman of the International Finance Forum (IFF) led a delegation to The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). They met with Professor Benjamin Wah, Provost; Professor Wong Suk-ying, Associate-Vice-President; Professor William Wong, Associate Dean (External Affairs) of Engineering; and Ms Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China) of CUHK.
CUHK members introduced to the delegates the latest development of the University together with the China Engagement Strategy. Both sides exchanged ideas on establishing links in relevant areas. The delegation then visited the University Library and toured the Chinese Rare Book Collection area.
IFF was founded in 2003 by over 20 countries, regions and international organizations from China, the United States and the European Union. IFF serves as a high-level global finance exchange and research center with the headquarters stationed in Beijing. The visit enabled CUHK and IFF to learn more about each other, paving the way for future collaboration.

Visit of Party Secretary of Guangzhou Tianhe District
Mr. Lin Daoping, Party Secretary of Tianhe District of Guangzhou City, led an 8-member delegation to The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 7 May. They met with Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China); Mr. Chan Chi Ho, Director of Strategic Development Office and Mr. Perkins Ho, Head of Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation Team of the Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services. The delegates gained a better understanding of the University's advancement in innovation and entrepreneurship and strategic areas of development during the meeting. The visit strengthened exchange which enhanced mutual understanding to facilitate expansion of collaboration in knowledge transfer in the region.
