Outstanding achievement of women in CUHK Engineering

LAU Ming Wai Laura, a final-year undergraduate student in Electronic Engineering, won the Best Paper Award in the special session (Women in Engineering) in TENCON 2015. TENCON is a premier international technical conference of IEEE Region 10, as the Asia Pacific Region is known, one of the largest regional organisations of the IEEE.

LEUNG Yun Yee Esther, a MPhil student in Mechanical and Automation Engineering received the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship. Another award Esther received was the Outstanding ICT Women Awards 2015 (OICTWA), the first award recognising and applauding women's contribution to and innovation within the ICT industry launched by FACE Club, which is established by the female members of Hong Kong Computer Society (HKCS).

Prof. MENG Mei Ling Helen, the Chairman of Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management received the Outstanding ICT Women Professional Award from the HKCS. She established the Microsoft-CUHK Joint Laboratory for Human-Centric Computing and Interface Technologies in 2005 and serves as Co-Director. This laboratory was recognized as a Ministry of Education of China (MoE) Key Laboratory in 2008. In 2013, she helped the University establish the Big Data Decision Analytics Research Center, with a generous donation from the Dr. Stanley Ho Medical Development Foundation.
