Three CUHK Scholars Awarded Croucher Senior Research Fellowship 2006-07 |

Three research academics from The Chinese University were presented the prestigious Senior Research Fellowships of The Croucher Foundation on 28th March 2006, in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the international scientific community. They were Prof. Hak-fun Chow (Department of Chemistry), Prof. Jie Huang (Department of Automation and Computer-Aided Engineering), and Prof. Dennis Y.M. Lo (Department of Chemical Pathology) who was awarded the Medical Research Fellowship. The awards were presented by Prof. Zhou Guangzhao, chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology.
The Croucher Senior Research Fellowships scheme was founded in 1997 to recognize and encourage academics who have excelled in scientific research. The value of each fellowship is about US$100,000 and it is used to sponsor the awardee's institution in recruiting a replacement for the awardee for six months or a year. Each awardee also receives a cash award of HK$40,000. A total of 12 scholars from CUHK have been awarded the Croucher Senior Research Fellowship since its inception. The other recipients were Prof. Henry N.C. Wong, Prof. Wu Chi, and Prof. Xie Zuowei of Chemistry; Prof. Raymond W.H. Yeung of Information Engineering; Prof. Zhou Xunyu of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management; Prof. Wei Juncheng of Mathematics; Prof. Xia Keqing of Physics; and, receiving the Croucher Senior Medical Research Fellowship, Prof. Jean Woo and Prof. Joseph J.Y. Sung of Medicine and Therapeutics.
